Gradings
Building your ladders, editing a syllabus, and signing off skills from the mats.
Grading ladders
A ladder is your progression: gloves, belts, stripes, or whatever your discipline uses. You build it yourself, in your order, with your names. There is no default template you have to bend your syllabus around, and a gym teaching several disciplines can run a separate ladder for each.
Editing a syllabus
Each level in a ladder holds the skills required to reach it. You edit these directly — add a technique, reword one, reorder them, or change what a level requires as your curriculum develops.
Changing a syllabus doesn't wipe existing progress. Students keep the skills already signed off.
Signing off skills
Coaches tick skills off on a phone, on the mat, in the moment — not from memory into a spreadsheet that evening. Each sign-off is recorded against the student and the level they're working toward.
Progress is calculated from skills completed against skills required, so a student and their parent can see exactly how far through a level they are and what remains.
Running a grading
When you run a grading, eligible students are the ones whose required skills are signed off. Awarding a new grade moves the student up the ladder and starts them on the next level's skills.
Parents see the result in the member portal. That is usually the end of the "when is my kid grading?" email.
